A partial solar eclipse will be visible in India on the afternoon of august 1.People from North-Eastern region can see better, substantial part of teh Sun’s disc being obscured by the moon.

The partial eclipse will be seen in North-Eastern region at 4:08pm. This will start at 4:18pm and ends at 6:02pm for Kolkata.

The greatest and end pahses of partial eclipse can seen from most parts of India. But not from Nagaland and Mizoram, where the eclipse starts after sunset.

The maximum obscuration of the sun will occur at Sibsagar, the magnitude of eclipse will be around 0.8

A total eclipse will be visible in Canada extending across northern Greenland, the Arctic, central Russia, Mongolia and China.

The next solar eclipse( a partial one ) will occur on January 26, 2009, but will be marginally visible from eastern and southern India.
