First Commercial Tidal Power Turbine: SeaGen
World’s first tidal turbine, by Marine Current Turbines – A British Tidal energy company, has started to delivering electricity onto the grid for the first time.
This tidal current turbine named as SeaGen, has generated 150KW of power onto the grid.By intention, SeaGen is constrained to 300KW during the commissioning phase. In full operational mode, it will generate 1.2 MW of clean energy, that can be used by nearly 1000 homes.
SeaGen works like an ‘UnderWater WindMill’ with the rotors driven by the power of the tidal currents.
SeaGen was installed at Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland, one of the main tidal hotspot in UK and Irish Waters.

very intersting….topic.
it was the nice idea.and what are the main requirments for this plant? and why cant we built these kind of plants in our country?what is the woking procedure of this plant?
its very interesting to generate power through tidal waves. it is economical as well as pollution free.
great engineering marvel
