Hi Kamesh,
I will try to write in detail abt their specifications and functionalities. Thanks for feedback.
I am mapping the energy infrastructure of India. The data on India (not at the above web site yet as I am still building it) is stored as a kml file (viewable on Google Earth). Would you be interested in partnering to refine and enhance it?
Sure, thats interesting. We can work. Let me know the details.
You can create databases of energy installations. That would be useful for students, engineers, researchers and energy planners. But creating Google maps is a dangerous attempt.
What is the purpose served by mapping the energy infrastructure on Google Maps? It can only serve the anti-nationals and terrorists by helping them target vital energy installations.
@ Naveen,
I agree to your point. showing all Energy installations clearly on Google Earth/Maps can be mis-used by Anti social elements.
But at the same time, It will be very clear to students/researchers for reference…instead of just seeing the names and details on web page.
Anyhow, I will talk to Dr. Gupta regarding this.
Thanks for comments/suggestions.
For the sake of clarity, you may use geographical maps of different energy installations. But, I think Google Earth gives details at a very high accuracy of positioning (correct if I am wrong)
For academic purpose, a simple map is sufficient. (useful for energy studies such as long term generation planning or power transmission network planning) I think Google Earth kind of details are only useful for positioning rockets and missiles.
@ Naveen,
I agree to you for some extent. I will consider your suggestions.
Some data is available here.
